Dear Participant, We would like to welcome you to the Mallow 10 mile road race sponsored by Dano’s Supervalu of Mallow on March 26th 2017. We have put together some of the most common questions in this email and hope it will help answer any questions you have. We have also added a participant checklist. Please ensure that your details are correct such as name, Club and age category.

Elite Entry: While the main race is full, we have reserved a few places for elite entries with recent 10 mile times of sub 56 for men and sub 61 for women. Contact Paudie Birmingham at padraic DOT birmingham AT gmail DOT com or ring 086 3849159

Timetable Saturday 25th 2:00 pm to 5pm Number pickup: Mallow Red Cross center, New Road. (See map below) Sunday 26th 09:30 am to noon Number pickup: Mallow Red Cross center, New Road. (See map below) Sunday 26th 12:30 pm Race start (See map below) Sunday 26th 2:30 pm Prize giving will start at Youth Centre (Race HQ) (See map below)

Getting Here and Parking: Mallow is 35 km north of Cork city and 64 km south of Limerick city on the N20. Coming from Dublin or Waterford: Mallow is also intersected by the N72. The N73 joins the N72 just outside the town. Please see town map below for direction to race number pick up / Youth Centre (Race HQ.)

Race Number Collection Where to collect your number (and t-shirt): Race number collection will take place at the Irish Red Cross center, New Road, Mallow. This is located beside the Youth Centre (Race HQ.). Numbers are available from Saturday 2.00pm until 5:00pm and on race morning Sunday 26th from 9:30am to 12am. Please see town map below for direction to race number pick up / Youth Centre (Race HQ.)

How to get to the start line: The start line is within walking distance, about 400m from the Youth Centre (Race HQ). Please see town map below for direction to race start line.

Toilets: Portaloos will be available outside the registration hall & in the town center close to the start.

Timing Chip: The race will be chip timed. This means that you will get an exact time from when you cross the start line until you cross the finish line. Your individual timing chip will be on the back of your race number. Please attach your race number to the front of your outer layer using the safety pins provided. Do not fold or bend the number as this may mean the chip does not work properly. Your race number must be clearly visible at all times, especially when crossing the start and finish lines.

Pacers: Mallow AC will provide pacers for: 60, 65, 70, 75, 80, 85, 90 & 95 minutes The pacers will run an even pace throughout the race so stick with them if they are running at your target time. This will prevent you from running off the start line full of enthusiasm and feeling great over the first few miles, only to crash and burn before the finish. If you have any energy to spare burn it up over the last mile and not the first. The pacers will be easily identifiable at the start line and will line up in order, so the 60 minute pacer will be towards the front of the pack and the 90 minute pacer will be further back.

Water Stations: There will be two water stations on the course at approximately 3.5 miles and 7.5 miles and more water available at the finish area.

Bag Drop: There are two areas you can leave your bags.

1) Youth Centre (Race HQ).

2) Fitness Solutions (Sponsors of Start & Finish line) are offering a ticketed bag drop for any runners wishing to avail of it. Fitness Solutions is located in the center of Mallow and close to the start line.

Refreshments: Refreshments will be available after the race in the Youth Centre (Race HQ).

Showers: There are limited showers available in the Youth Centre (Race HQ). Mallow Swimming pool located beside the Youth Centre (Race HQ) offer the use of pool showers for 3 euros.

Course Detail : The start line is only about 400m from the Youth Centre & finish line is just beyond the church on the south side of the River Blackwater. Youth Centre (Race HQ.) is 0.6 miles from the finish line. (See map) Full course description can be found on
